Delightful Sunny Kitchen!

When this homeowner came to us with her heart set on a copper farmhouse sink with detailed sunflower design we set out to design her dream kitchen around it.

 

Rustic Hickory cabinets with a warm medium tone stain brings detail and interest to the space. Stacking cabinets to the ceiling gives a custom finished look with added storage. Glass door cabinets with interior lighting allow them to display their beloved pottery. Removing the angled corner pantry closet allowed us to add more cabinetry including a full size pantry that no longer breaks up the design. 

 

A off-white quartz countertop that has warm gold veining running through it, compliments the wood cabinets and copper accents. A vertically-extended waterfall side countertop provides an elegant high end finish on the island. The second waterfall side at the end of cabinet run was functionally designed so water doesn’t splash on the new cabinets when their much loved pets are thirsty. 

 

The functional island is where the centerpiece patina copper sink sets the stage for the oil-rubbed bronze plumbing fixtures and cabinet hardware that tie in with the rustic cabinetry.  Replacing the prior drawers that were in the island with a two can trash-pullout allows for the functionality of scape, rinse and placing dishes right into the dishwasher without moving a foot.  Seating space for at least four makes this a great spot to gather or enjoy a meal.

 

The perimeter backsplash ties the theme together with penny tiles in alternating rows of cream and dark copper and the new ORB outlet and switch plates disappear into the tile.

 

Removing the carpet and extending the hardwood floors with a new stain finish into the adjoining family room and front sitting room created a cohesive main level.  Fresh paint, adding under cabinet lighting and additional ceiling can lights presents and completes a bright and sunny overall transformation. 

 

This new highly functional and gorgeous kitchen is now the perfect space for the homeowner to enjoy cooking and carry through their love of sunflowers throughout the home!
