After Kitchen Remodel Colorado SpringsTwin Leaf Kitchens & Interiors

Open, Cozy, and Oh So Functional Kitchen!

This lovely family is all about a clean, organic, and earth friendly lifestyle and wanted a kitchen remodel to reflect their personalities and also mesh with the open forest surroundings of their home.  The old kitchen felt confined with the low soffits and a wall between the kitchen and living room. The oddly angled island, old blue tile, carpet and outdated cabinets, counters and tile were really cramping their style.

We started by knocking down that wall to open the kitchen to the living room which allowed for a large peninsula with at least four counter stools.  The new peninsula has ample counter space for prep, eating, fun family activities, or enjoying the aromas going on in the new kitchen working space.  We brought the ceiling up to one height to allow for taller cabinets and crown molding.  Warm earth-toned shaker cabinets ground the space and a gorgeous creamy quartz countertop with rich brown veins tie into the multi-shade white backsplash tile and complementing dark brown grout.  We moved the range from the island to the perimeter cabinet area to allow for a new range hood so cooking odors, moisture, grease and other pollutants could now be exhausted to the outside instead of releasing into the interior air and landing on new cabinetry.  The family opted out for a microwave and wanted a functional location for their frequently used toaster oven.

A darker earth-toned contrast cabinetry finish on the new larger island now has a roomy undermount sink that flows with the kitchen perimeter and we added to the back side of the island additional cabinetry, all with pull-out roll trays, for accommodating their small appliances and the ease of getting to them quickly.  The old pantry closet, with double bi-fold doors, had a lot of wasted space and unmanageable food storage. The three new pantry cabinets all have four pull-out roll trays each for loads of new storage and now they can get to pantry items without them falling over or expiring because they were hidden out-of-sight. We didn’t stop there, but added an additional reduced depth buffet cabinets for even more countertops space to include food storage for their cute furry family members.

We replaced the old blue tile with warm luxury vinyl plank flooring throughout the main level.   All new slim LED can lights, 3 new ceiling fans, fresh paint and new doors with fresh white baseboard and casing throughout brings new life to the home beyond just the kitchen.

Now storage is plentiful throughout and each of the homeowners desires for functional areas was accommodated plus all new appliances for a family that cooks multiple meals per day.

This home was in need of more than just a new kitchen so we renovated the master bathroom and powder bath as well. Take a look here!
