We completely reconfigured this kitchen and dinette area to make a grand open floor plan!
The old kitchen was closed off and felt small with non-load bearing walls, soffits, low cabinets and a two-tiered countertop. So, removing all of those obstacles gave us a new blank slate of which to design the homeowners their dream kitchen and open site lines to the rest of the main level.
New bright white cabinets with beautiful crown molding now go all the way to the ceiling. A custom decorative navy wood hood and the navy accent doors at the beverage center, which also include glass inserts for displaying those favorite items, bring a timeless contrast onto the main wall of the kitchen. The new large functional island, that seats five, has a gorgeous quartz countertop that has navy veins and flecks of gold tying it together with the three gold island pendant lights, new gold cabinet hardware and plumbing fixtures that are scattered throughout the new kitchen. A subtle multi tone backsplash provides balance to the white cabinets and new stainless appliances. The new layout is efficient for prepping, cooking and allows more space for storage.
A redesign of the laundry/mudroom allowed us to enlarge the space plus add two full pantry cabinets for even more functional storage and it provides a more welcoming entry from the garage. The living room fireplace was pulled out of the corner and new base cabinets were installed so to complete a much more comfortable place for the family to gather. Extending & refinishing hardwood floors and a new lighting layout was a must for this new open floor plan.
Now this “Grand Open Floor Plan” has a cohesive, beautiful main level for everyday family living and the perfect casual, classic elegant style for amazing entertaining.
